The law of nature is that the farther away you run, the
closer you get. Vishal Bhardwaj's film 'Patakha', based in a small village in
Rajasthan, is also the story of two such sisters Champa aka Barki (Radhika
Madan) and Genda alias Chutki (Sanya Malhotra), who want to get away from each
other, but luck She then takes them along. Chhutki and Badki fight a lot
without talking to each other since childhood. Dipper (Sunil Grover), who lives
in the village, not only misses an opportunity to fight between the two
sisters, but also enjoys watching them fight. Bapu (Vijay Raj) of both sisters
loves their two daughters very much. For this reason, he did not even remarry.
But he is also relieved by the daily war between his daughters.
Patel (Sanand Verma), a rich man from the village, hangs on
both of Bapu's girls. Once trapped in a compulsion, Bapu takes a big sum from
his bride in exchange for marrying Patel. But Badki runs away with her
boyfriend Jagan the day before the wedding. Poor Bapu decides Chutki's marriage
to Patel, then she also runs away with her boyfriend like an elder sister. It
is only by visiting her in-laws that she finds out that her husband is a real
brother and that her luck has brought them back together. What do each other's
fierce enemy sisters feed in the life ahead? You have to go to the theater to
know this.
Vishal Bhardwaj, who is considered to be the mastermind of
desi style films, has so far made films on several novels. But this time Vishal
has chosen Charan Singh Pathik's Short Story Two Sisters to make the film.
Vishal liked the story so much that he took up the task of writing the script,
directing the film. Sadly, Vishal could not make this film an entertaining film
for the audience. This desi story becomes so much desi that it will not be easy
for the urban audience to coincide with it. Barring a few scenes, the first
half of the film makes you quite bored. You do it for a second half of the film
in the hope that maybe something entertaining happens, but they feel
disappointed.
Sanya Malhotra and Radhika Madan have played their roles
well. Although Vijay Raj and Sunil Grover have acted well, but due to the weak
script, they also do not connect the audience with the film. The music of the
film is also average. If you are a fan of desi films and Vishal Bhardwaj, then
go watch the film at your own risk.
